Burning issue of crude oil

Acute shortage of petroleum products in Nepal has led to various problems. Needless to mention we all have seen that vehicle owners have qued up for several hours to get few litres of petrol and diesel. We have always heard that Nepal Oil Corporation's loss is increasing day by day due to the skyrocketing crude oil prices in the international market and it's outstanding dues to pay Indian Oil Corporation. This has led to flourish the black market where consumers are forced to pay more than Rs 100 for a litre of petrol. So what the goverment is waiting for? We haven't yet known that the government is taking any steps for immediate solution. It's an old tradition in Nepal that problems are admitted late and the issues are exxagerated in such a way that creates a complete halt to people's daily life . Similarly ministers of supply ministry fear that they become dispopular if they rise the price of petroleum products and leave all the problems to NOC. It is necessary to manage the price as per the situation to end such shortage which is also an immediate solution in my view. NOC's attitude is also questionable in this issue. Lack of transparency in it's accout section have left people to think about it . Therefore another suitable long term solution is the privatization of the corporaton. Eventually positive steps should be taken by goverment for resolving the current crisis as soon as possible for the betterment of Nepalese people.
